Position Overview:

The Assistant Store Manager helps guide our incredible team of staff and volunteers! The Assistant Store Manager works with the Store Manager to embody our values while creating an: Efficient Store, Encouraging and Capable Team, Engaged, Informed, & Loyal Customers, Appreciated Loyal, & Missional Donors, and Thriving Local & Global Impact Areas.

What You Can Expect to Do:

Our Store Manager is looking for someone to help her develop the team and engage in day-to-day activities associated with the operation of a Thrift Store. You should expect to use your skills and experience to deliver the following results:

• Use your knowledge and experience to effectively motivate and develop volunteers and staff to accomplish their tasks
• Use your leadership skills and experience to engage, motivate, and care for the team
• Use your experience and passion for event planning to plan simple appreciation activities for staff and volunteers
• Effectively share your passion for people and those in need with shoppers and the team!
• Use your experience researching and pricing to accurately and efficiently build teams to price donated items
• Use your computer skills to create promotional flyers, schedule volunteers and staff using Homebase, update social media, and keep our online store organized using Lightspeed
• Use your eye for design to create compelling store displays
• Use your problem-solving skills to come up with innovative solutions to keep the store running simply and smoothly
• Share your experience and Christian Faith to all who are interested through prayer, conversation, and caring
• Use your flexible and supportive attitude to perform other duties to keep the store running smoothly

• WorldServe staff exhibits a personal commitment to the Christian faith, discipleship, and active church participation. In agreement with tenets of the Christian faith, as presented in the Statement of Faith, Assistant Store Managers are expected to integrate spiritual practices into daily work relationships.
• This can be a physical role at times. You should expect to:

• Our store is open Monday to Saturday 10:00 am - 6:00 pm. The store is closed on all holidays which helps contribute to great work life balance!

POSITION:
As a Store Associate, you have a heart for people, thrift, and merchandising. You enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life. You are an energetic, knowledgeable individual who is excellent at working on a team. Additionally, you feel your strong people skills, organization abilities, communication skills, and positive and pleasant attitude, will be an asset to our WorldServe Thrift team. This is an essential role working with a great group of people who care deeply about our work around the world!

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Retail experience, strong preference for thrift/consignment experience
• Working knowledge of clothing (both current & vintage) fashion trends, household goods, and furniture values of strongly preferred
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to work at a steady pace in an active environment
• Ability to maintain a positive calm demeanor
• Ability to plan organize and carry out multiple work task
• Will be interacting with donors, receiving, sorting, pricing, quality control, stocking, and merchandising while striving to provide informed friendly and excellent service.
• Demonstrated work ethic – consistency, punctuality, and thoroughness

SPECIFICALLY:

• We are looking for a positive, outgoing, service-minded individual, with great customer service skills
• Able to work on the sales floor or warehouse setting in regular communication with the staff team, volunteers, and customers
• Efficient and diligent cash-handling capabilities

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

• This position may require physical exertion in an environment that includes movement of a wide variety of goods, including furniture
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. as well as using appropriate lifting techniques & moving aids
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, and bend for most of the day; manual dexterity in kneeling, turning/twisting, use of hands, fingers
• Exposure to dust, grime, dirt, and outside weather conditions
• Ability to write/type information for others to read
• Agree to work in a smoke-free, alcohol-free, and drug-free environment

OTHER:

• Other duties may be assigned as required.

• This retail thrift business is open six (6) days a week, requiring a flexible schedule, and availability to work weekends and/or evenings as needed.

DETAILS:

• Reports to: Store Manager
• Hours: 4-8 hour shifts, Monday to Saturday 9:45 am - 6:15 pm closed on Sundays and Holidays.
